Police have arrested members of a Taiwanese group in Chon Buri alleged to have lured people into transferring more than 350 million baht into their accounts via ATM machines.
Thirteen suspects - nine Taiwanese and four Chinese nationals - were arrested in two separate raids on Friday.
Twelve of the suspects, five of them women, were apprehended at a house on Chaiporn Withi housing estate in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district. The other suspect, a Taiwanese national, was arrested at another house on Grand Home Place housing estate in Chon Buri's Muang district.
Police seized a large number of computers, mobile phones, ATM cards, as well as a loaded pistol and a banknote counter during the raids.
Police said suspect Wang Jui Yuan had admitted that the group rented the houses a month ago to operate an illegal call centre in Thailand.
Police said the gang randomly called people in Taiwan and China and decived them into sending about 350 million baht into their bank accounts via ATMs.
